If you are an Internet marketer, you probably tried to guest post on other blogs to accumulate inbound links to your site. This strategy is called guest posting and it is one of the best method to increase your search engine popularity.

The rules are simple, find the best blog to guest write on, compose a compelling article, submit your article to the site owner and wait for publication approval. Once your article is accepted, it will be published as a guest post on that particular blog. A published article of course has your author bio which includes a backlink to your site. That’s how a normal guest post marketing works.

But what if your author bio and your backlinks suddenly disappear after a few weeks of publication? All your hardwork are put into waste. I have been doing guest posting for a couple of years now and I always experienced this type of issue. Why some bloggers tends to behave this way? What are the options that you can do to persuade the blog owner to reinsert your author bio and your links? Based on my experiences, I will give you some ways that could possibly help you on reinstating your guest post links.

Ways to acquire your links back to your guest post page

First off, there are different cases why blog owners tends to remove links from their guest post databse. This includes spamming activities, the blog was sold to a new owner, or the blog owner is simply unprofessional. If you know that you are correctly following all the guest post guidelines set by the blog owner, then there is no reason for your links to be removed.

So what are your options? The first thing that you can do is to contact the site owner and ask to reinstate your author bio and your links. Make sure to be polite with your message even though you are totally annoyed. Remember that you are still at the end of the stick and you have no control about the situation. A professional and respectful approach are crucial factors that can help convince the blog owner to consider your request.

Your second option is to login with the blog’s WordPress dashboard. Most blogs that are built on WordPress platform allows their guest authors to have their own guest writer accounts. If the blog that removed your links offers this option, it is better to check your WordPress dashboard first especially your profile area where your author bio information can be found. Check if the information is intact and then save your work. Refresh your guest article page and see if your author bio and links are back.

Usually, this trick will solve your problem. However, any modifications you did on your WordPress dashboard can be tracked by the site admin so your links will again be in jeopardy. Once the owner removed your links again, then it’s time to contact the blogger and ask for some explanation.

After you contact the blog owner, there is a high probability of a reply since you are considered a “blog partner”. This is your chance to have a constant communication with the site owner until he reinstates your author bio.

But this will not always be the case. Some bloggers won’t answer your email queries for days or weeks. Don’t be discourage and don’t lose hope. What you can do is to send another follow up email because your first message probably ended up in the spam folder and your message wasn’t received.

If the blog owner still never replied to your work, try to leave a comment on one of his posts to get some immediate attention. This way, the blog owner won’t have any excuses that your request wasn’t received.

These practical ways will help you to have your author bio and links back to your guest article. If the blog owner is totally ignoring you after all these methods, then ask for article withdrawal. There is no point in contributing an article to a blog site without even a simple attribution to the author. The blogger will most likely give in to your request and will delete your article. After that, you are free to submit your article to other blogs that accepts guest post.

In summary, guest posting is a very important aspect of Internet marketing. Make sure that you monitor all your published articles on other blogs to keep an eye on your back links which can protect your article investments. Remember that the best way that you can acquire back your links is through proper communications.

If you’re into  internet marketing, you had probably heard of all these recent talks about google over optimization penalties, de-indexing link networks, search engines focusing more on social signals and all those hooplas. This stuff gets serious especially if you’re an SEO guy.

first, I would like to give my thoughts about Over optimization.

There’s certainly no such thing as “over optimization” in fact, if you listen to the recent interview with matt cutts, (where all this talk has began) he just couldn’t think of a word to describe it, so he just went with “over optimization”.

Optimization certainly is not a bad thing and Search Engines has nothing against it. in fact, they highly encourage it. Your main keywords inside the <title>, <h1> tags are some examples of good search engine optimization.

HOWEVER, What search engines do not like is spamming. And this is what you should totally avoid.

There are many ways to spam search engines. it could be an on-site and off-site factor.

on-site for example, you can create a crappy page with a keyword density of 60% or plaster your title tags with repeating keywords: certainly, this is a big SEO no no.

off-site for example, you probably joined a link network and started building backlinks using them. (which is probably working for you right now but it might not in the long run.)

Why?

Search engines are becoming super smarter now than ever before. (especially Google)

Check your Google analytics and webmaster tools account. if you know how to use it, then you probably seen this by now.

Google Has “almost” all activity data that’s happening inside our site

if you check, you’ll see

1. they are tracking Social media activities happening inside our website now
2. they know if we got a new content published
3. they know if there’s a new back link to our website
4. They even have this new feature that “verifies” content authorship on a website
5. it’s also rumored that, google’s been crawling links that are sent through email
6. on the interview, Matt even talked about website design and publication dates. so, if your content and website design looks like it is from the 1980′s, there’s a chance that Search engines won’t put too much attention to it. (if you are running a blog, I suggest you update some of your top posts publish them as a new article. this way, the content would look fresh to search engines)

back to the topic…

Obviously, it’s possible for them to use all these data to add up in their Algorithm in determining on how to rank your website.

if you are a member of link networks, there’s a big chance that you’ll just be wasting your money.

Overtime, Google will eventually find out about these network and de-index it. which basically means, you’ll be losing all the backlinks you build and lose your rankings.

A good example of a network that google shut down is build my rank.

BuildmyRank.com is a popular blog network used by many Search engine marketers. Until the recent Google update ran them out of business completely. you can read their official announcement below:

because of all these changes, I can say that guest posting, original article submissions and waiting for the links to come naturally are still the best way to build backlinks to your site.

it’s a daunting task and certainly takes time, but you have to remember that, whatever you’re doing to improve, no matter how small, would still be effective in the long run.

if you do at least 1 guest posting a week for example, that would be 4 backlinks a month or 40 links a year – From real established / related websites – without paying a monthly fee.

“Search Engines Follow People”

if you are able to build an awesome site that people loves, search engine will naturally follow it. which is what exactly you should do to avoid penalties.

1. make an awesome website that people love
2. avoid spamming
3. take advantage of social media

when you are able to get the proper mind set / website with these qualities, There is no doubt that it will dominate the SERPS no matter how many updates Google does.

Whenever you search for “elie palima” or any other search keywords related to my blog posts, you’ll notice that my picture and a link to my Google+ profile shows up next to it.

if you want to do the same with your site, there’s a full instruction from Google that shows you how to do this.

Get Your Author Photo And Google+ Profile in Search Results

first of all, you must create a google+ profile to do this. it’s also important that you put a photo of yourself with a recognizable head shot. When you’re done, do the steps below.

Step 1 - Make Sure Your Name And Email Address appears on each page that you are the author, Like this:

• I recommend you get this information right next to your post title (like what you see on this blog)
• The Email is optional (but I recommend you include it cause I find it faster when you do)
• the “By” line is really important. make sure you preface your author name with it.

Sometimes, step 1 is enough for Google to give you author verification. but Just to make sure, Do the next steps below:

Step 2 - Link Your Content With Your Google Profile

this one is easy. you just simply add the Google+ badge inside your site. you can get the google+ badge here. And follow Google’s instruction how to install it on your site.

on this site, you can see the google+ badge installed on my sidebar.

Alternatively, you can directly link to your Google+ profile like this (if you do not like the badge)

  <a href="[profile_url]?rel=author">Google</a>

Replace [profile_url]with the your Google Profile URL, like this:

  <a href="https://plus.google.com/112707173614344379386?
   rel=author">Google</a>

if you’re going with this method, your link must always contain the ?rel=author stuff to make sure google pick up your author info.

Step 3 - Add Your Email Address on Google+

Login to Google+ and

1. click on “Profile”
2. and then hit “edit”
3. Then Click “about”

then inside “about”, Click on “work” and add your email addresse(s) that you use when writing.

Final Step - Add Yourself as a “contributor to” on your google+ profile

Finally, you should add yourself as a “contributor to” your websites on your google+ profile like this:

when you’re done with all these stuffs, don’t forget to hit “done editing” else, your changes won’t be saved.

Wait For Your Google Profile To Show up

Finally, when you’re done, all you have to do is wait for a few days for Google to verify authorship on each of your blog posts.  (mine took less than a week)

and then, Enjoy This new feature from Google! =D

A few days ago, I changed the default ultimate blogging theme ‘related posts links’ that you see below each posts on this blog With YARPP (yet another related post plugin.There is a very simple reason why I did this and here’s why:

Ultimate Blogging Theme‘s Related Post Algorithm Sucks

How UBT shows the ‘related posts’ on the blog simply does not look good and does not go with my expectations. The default UBT related posts , only shows ‘related posts’ based on your post’s tags. to simply put, it will not display the “REAL” related posts on your site or based on the article you’ve just written; but just the one that has the same tags. Try wrting a blog post using UBT and don’t include tags; you’ll see what I mean!

When you say ‘related posts’ it should only show the ‘top posts’ that are related to what your primary post is about. the ultimate blogging theme is a great theme however it failed with this one.

if you’re experiencing the same problem right now on your blog, do not worry. There’s a solution to this and that is by installing YARPP in your blog.

Yet Another Related Posts Plugin For UBT

YARPP is a related posts plugin for wordpress created by Michael Erlewine (mitcho); a PhD student in Linguistics at MIT. The plugin gives you a list of posts and/or pages related to the current entry, introducing the reader to other and MORE relevant content on your site.

You can check the main plugin Page to see more key features of this plugin but the most important of all is that this plugin is

1. very easy to setup (I will show you a tutorial later on how I integrated it PROPERLY with the ultimate blogging theme)
2. Smart Algorithm – It Will REALLY show your visitors REAL RELATED POSTS that is also a big plus on SEO
3. the new templating lets you easily customize how your ‘related posts links’ are displayed. (if you take a look at how my related posts are displayed right now, you can see that almost nothing has changed. However, it did changed. All thanks to YARPP templating sysem, I was able to make the related posts neatly displayed as before without touching too much code.

This Tutorial on installing YARPP is for UBT users only. if you’re using other themes, you can still follow this tutorial however, there are some areas that may be different on your theme like the <ul class=”NAME”> for example.

How To Replace UBT Related Posts with YARPP

1. Install YARPP plugin – You can easily do this by logging in to your wordpress dashboard and going to Plugins>> add new >> and search for “YARPP” and simply click on the install button and simply activate the plugin.

2. Setup YARPP option

you can leave the whole option as it is. however, if you want it to look exactly how the UBT related posts looks; do these steps.

• UNCHECK Automatically display related posts – if you have this option checked, it will not be placed properly below your UBT posts, but instead YARPP will be placed directly under each post so it will not look good. if you are using ubt or you simply looking for a way to change YARPP default position, you should uncheck this option.
• on the settings page, enter he number of posts you want to appear
• on the before/after related entries fields, replace the old code there with this:
  

  Related posts:

  <ul class=”related_post”>

• you’ll notice there are 2 two fields on the “before/after related entries” the first field is where we’ve inputted the first code in step two. on the second field you’ll notice the ending tag. we simply replace it with a tag.
• That’s it. you’ve finished this step. the next step is to properly place it on the theme.

3. Assigning a Different Position for YARPP

before doing this, make sure you got the “automatically display related posts” on yarpp option off.

• go to your single.php file
• if you’re using UBT, hit ctrl + F and type in ubt_related_posts (this will show you the current position of the default UBT related posts)
• and you should be able to see this code:
  

  php if (function_exists(‘ubt_related_posts’)) { ubt_related_posts(); } ?>

• Directly under or above that code, Place this:
  

  <?php related_posts(); ?>

• Go to UBT head quarters and simply Deactivate the Default UBT related posts there

4. See your *NEW* and awesome Related posts displayed

that’s it. you’ve finally replaced UBT related posts with an awesome one. :)

About a Few days ago, I recently noticed my Google Pagerank drop from PR3 to PR1. however, today when I checked the toolbar I got from SEO book, (really useful SEO toolbar)

I found out my google PageRank dropped to 0. And what I felt is, well… I can’t explain what I felt after. :D

My Site had a google PR3 for more than 2 straight years. And I was really used to seeing a ‘green bar’ on my tool bar every time I visit my website. Seeing the PR toolbar in pure white; gave me mixed emotions.

Officially Back As Mr Zero

After having a job online I left this blog inactive for many months and that lead to ZERO productivity for this blog. now that my employer has no task for me to work on, I got ZERO job.

Zero job means zero earnings as a freelancer and because I left my blog for many months without new content, I am left with ZERO readers

and now, finally, I have

Zero Page Rank!

The process is complete. I am officially back to zero – straight from where I started.

On the bright site, it kinda ‘feels’ good as well because now, I kinda feel like Steve jobs. (in my dreams) ahahahaha…

Besides that, I’ve learned many lessons along the way and I am more motivated than ever to manage my online business especially, this little website that has my Big name on it. :-)

back to page rank drop, there are factors that affects PageRank Drops. if you want to find What these factors are then there is no better person to ask other than Google Engineer, Matt Cutts. in the short video below, he talked about different factors that affects PR drops.

Matt Cutts On Google PR Drops

According to Matt, PR is updated 3-4 times a year. He also have a message to webmasters not to get obsessed with the green bar thingy. (where I am ALMOST at the point of being; ‘obsessed’. lol) =D

The Main Causes of PageRank Drops:

1. You lost a links from a webpage(s) that has a high PR
2. You got canonicalization issues with your domain (how to set the preffered domain + a proper way of setting the cannonical urls of the site can be found on my wordpress seo tips)
3. you were selling links that passed PR. if you were, you can simply remove those links on your site and simply send a reconsideration request on google (do a google search to find the reconsideration request page)

Judging from the points above, #1 could be the most obvious reason for me #3 is also a good candidate as well cause before, I used to run ‘textlinkads‘ Ads’ on this site. however, I said goodbye to it before my pagerank dropped. (I am just not sure if that counts)

anyway, do not rely on PR too much; they are just numbers! if you are still ranking on the SERPS, there is nothing to worry about other than providing quality content on your site and maintaining good SEO practices. but if you feel you’ve done something wrong to google, you can simply send a reconsideration request.

anyway, back to me being the “Zero Man” would I be able to get over this? well, that’s an interesting episode to look after. :D one thing is for sure though; I got a lot of work to do. :-)

if you’re not a regular at this blog, you’ll probably come across this post by googling “keyword winner Clickbank receipt number” (or any other related terms) I’m personally writing this post for search engines so I’m expecting you to come from google or any other search engine.

I would like to start this post by saying, I’m sorry to disappoint you and that the keyword winner clickbank receipt number is not here. I’ve never purchase the product and if I ever did – I have no intention of sharing it. Why? I’ll tell you that later. :-)

What is Keyword winner?

Keyword winner is a keyword research tool slash WordPress plugin that you could easily install on your wordpress blog. the tool is sophisticated enough that you had to enter your clickbank receipt number first before you could even use the plugin.

keyword winner is a tool that will suggest related keyword titles (that’s good for SEO) while you’re writing a blog post.

Why keyword titles?

the ones that Search engines gives the most weight (in terms of ranking a site) are the page titles, so the better your Titles are Search engine optimized, the better rankings you’ll get.

if you know something about SEO, you probably understand by now that the most common Keywords you would want to avoid are the keywords with High competition and the ones which don’t get searched at all and that The secret on increasing blog/website traffic and getting a high Search engine Rankings fast is to Target Trending and low competition keywords.

don’t know how to do that? don’t worry. I’ve written an SEO guide about it. the only problem is, Finding these kinds of keywords takes time and sometimes, it’s better to automate the process. I mean, who wouldn’t want to save time? right? :-)

Keyword winner is exactly the kind of tool you need that will Help you Find these keywords with Ease. and I bet this tool makes guerilla bloggers very happy. this plugin automatically gets data from Google and will show up inside your wordpress dashboard each time you make a new post. all you’ll have to do is choose from the Keywords that the tool will suggest you use.

Why I won’t share the Clickbank receipt number

first of all, since I didn’t purchase the product (yet), I don’t have a clickbank receipt number to give you.

second, I think it’s unfair for Dan Lew. :-)

3rd, if everybody would be using this plugin, Then what’s the whole point of buying the plugin anyway?

I mean, Think about it… if all the bloggers are using keyword winner then keyword winner would be useless after all. the main purpose of keyword winner is to give a “competitive edge” over your Search engine competition. but what if ALL your competitors are using the plugin like you? there’s no way you’ll get the “competitive edge” you’re looking for won’t you? ;-P lol.

Ever since I’ve learned so much about WordPress and SEO, it has became one of my ‘hobbies’ to play around with google’s Keyword tool. I would often do a little keyword research for one of my minisites and blog posts. since I was bored and can’t think of anything to do, I decided to type my name on the keyword box.

to my surprise, a Result came up showing that my name “elie palima” was getting searched 70+ times globally on google every month! this is very surprising to me since I don’t expected people would be searching for “my name” *lol

What’s More interesting though is that Google says that the related keywords for “elie palima” are keywords like “blogging for profit”, “how to blog for money” and other more keywords related to blogging and money.

I don’t know why people are searching for me, but it sure feels good to be – “searched” :-D
