in this article, I am going to share with you the no B.S. guide on how to make money online.

First of all, there are dozens of ways to make money online.

In this article, I will not be covering the ways to make money online. Instead, what I will do is acually explain to you how to actually make money online.

The Formula of Making Money

To learn how to make money online, you should know the formula of making money first.

The Formula to make money is:

Leads + Offers = Money $$$

Whereas Leads are the prospective customers who are interested in what you have to offer.

And the Offers is anything that you can think of that can make you money.

Examples of offers:

• Your own products (digital or physical)
• Affiliate products you are promoting
• Advertisements spots for sale on your site
• etc… (all things that makes you money are considered as an offer.)

The Sales Funnel

let me break this down to you by introducing you to something that is called a “Sales Funnel”

1. The Sales funnel starts with traffic. Traffic is basically the number of people who are able to see any form of your online content.

• Website
• blog posts
• YouTube videos
• facebook posts

there are many ways to get traffic. The top 3 best places to get traffic is via:

1. Google (being on the front page result for a keyword)
2. Facebook (because people like your content, they share it and it gets viral via facebook)
3. youtube (same explanation like facebook and google)

2. The Lead capture mechanism is something that you use to get the traffic (visitor’s) information.

• can be an optin page where you collect their email address
• can also be a free membership site where they are asked to sign up (good examples are social networking sites and forums)

Tip: an easy way to get information from your visitors is by giving away a free incentive like an ebook that they can download in exchange for signing up to your site or email list

3. After you “captured” their information, they become prospective customers or Leads.

4. A series of follow up emails that provides value to your leads helps you build good relationship with your leads

5. By providing more value and building a good relationship with your leads, you improve your brands credibility and earn their trust that leads to higher conversions in sales on what you have to offer.

Take note that an offer is not always the product that you are selling. An offer can sometimes be a way on how you structure a deal with your leads. You can do that by giving a twist or over delivering what you have to offer.

some examples could be:

• Offering a once in a lifetime discount on a t-shirt you are selling
• You can give your leads exclusive coupon codes to get your products in half the price
• offer a bonus e-book if the customer decides to purchase your product within the next 2 weeks
• the ideas on how to structure your offers are unlimited.

6. The last part is where you actually make those sales and make money. :-)

How To Make Money Online (The Re-cap)

To Make Money Online, you are going to need two components.

1. The Leads
2. Your Offers

the same formula is true and used by almost all kinds of businesses (Online or Offline)

For example, if you are running a grocery store, you need prospective customers (leads) to come inside their shop to checkout what you have to offer (which are grocery items)

on the other hand, without offers, the grocery store won’t survive. (obviously)

to make money online, you need to have leads and offers.

The more leads you get, the more “interested people” will see your offer. the more interested people see your offers, the more likely you’ll make a sale.

How To Make More Money Online (something you should focus on)

Focus on this little formula, get it into your head to make more money online.

More Content + More Offers = More Money $$$

The more content you provide via your blog, youtube, facebook or any place on the internet is going to provide you with more traffic that will eventually give you more leads to capture.

The more leads you get, the more money you can potentially make.

The more value you provide your leads, the more likely they would buy your offers

And by presenting more offers either by selling more products or offering your products in different ways is going to result in *you* making more money online.

if you’re someone who already has experience with making money online, This article Can Still be a good Refresh about the topic.

Some of The Known and Obvious Ways To Make Money Online:

1. Joining eBay and Craigslist

• These are types of websites where you can buy and sell Physical Goods.
• If you are selling physical products offline, it’s a good idea to sell them on eBay as well.
• They can also be good places to get rid of things that you consider junk

2. Freelancing

• Where You offer services or get Hired to Work as a Virtual employee
• Odesk.com, Freelancer.com and Elance.com are some of the best places you can go when you are looking for ‘freelance work’
• Web Designer, Writer, SEO consultant, Data entry, call center representative are some examples of ‘virtual jobs’ that you can find on the sites I mentioned.
• Alternatively, you can also independently offer your services outside the sites I mentioned. For example, you can:
• Offer your services on forums
• Or by Staring Your own website that primarily focus in selling your services

3. Joining ‘Get Paid to’ sites

I’ve Already done/tried everything on the list above. They are all legitimate ways to make money online. in fact, some of the methods listed above; I still continue to use.

• Me and my wife still sell stuffs on eBay
• I still do freelance work in oDesk
• I’ve joined and tried almost “get paid to’ websites

in fact, if you visit my blog or simply search for my name online, you’ll see me talking a lot about these programs.

They Are All Good sources of making *Extra income* – But not More Than that.

That is Why I do not Recommend You (or any one else) to use These Methods Anymore.

Why I don’t Recommend “Get Paid To”, Freelancing and eBay Anymore:

1. You Make Little Money From These methods
2. The Money you’ll make are inconsistent and not permanent
3. They Take A lot Of Work and time
4. 90% of ‘get paid to’ sites turn into scam – Risky

On Freelancing, you can get paid based on your rate and it Can Still work for you as a part-time income.

But The Problems with freelancing are:

1. You Still have a “Boss” that you need to please
2. Availability is also a ‘must’ in most freelance work.
3. it still takes a lot of work and time (work and time, where you can instead invest in other areas that can make you more money)

Lastly, Get paid to’s, freelancing and eBay Does not Fit The Criteria of *My Ultimate Life Goal*

The Best Ways To Make Money Online

What I am going to show you next are the Best Ways To Make Money Using The Internet. How it works, and how you can make money out of it.

The Methods (except youtube) are done using *your own* website and not any one else and Best of all, you get to be your own boss using these methods.

1. Contextual Advertising

Contextual Advertising a type of ad that you can place inside your website that shows Relevant ads based on your content.

How it Works:

1. You sign up for an ad network (preferably Google Adsense)
2. You copy and paste a piece of code inside your website
3. It will show relevant ads based on the current page where the code is installed
4. You make money Each time someone clicks on the ads displayed on your website.

Contextual Advertising in my opinion is one of the easiest way to make money online. It is very easy to implement on your site (Does not take a lot of work) You can Monetize just about any type of content that you can think of.

Of course, there are more better ways to make money other than contextual advertising and I’m gonna cover that on the rest of this blog post.

#2 – Youtube Partnership Program

The Process Is almost Similar to contextual advertising. The only difference is, this time, the ads are placed inside the videos.

How It Works:

1. You create an interesting video that people would like to watch
2. Get Around 10,000 views on that video
3. Signup for Youtube’s partnership program
4. Once accepted, Youtube will display ads inside your video
5. Just like contextual advertising, you make money Each time ads are clicked or viewed every 1,000 times

independent YouTube Channels like Smosh, The annoying orange, Philip defranco has been reported to be making an annual income of more than $200,000 on Youtube partnership program alone.

#3 – Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is a brilliant way to make money online.

• You don’t have to have your own products to make money
• You don’t have to deal with customers
• All you’ll do is promote someone else’s product and get a commission each time you send a customer to the product owner/company

How Affiliate Marketing Works:

• Pick a Product To Promote preferably
• From clickbank or amazon.com
• Generate an “Affiliate” Link for the product you chose to promote
• Promote The Product Online Using Your “Affiliate link”
  Earn a Percentage of the sales the product made

Affiliate Marketing is one of my Favorite Ways to make money.

• With affiliate marketing, I get to setup so-called “affiliate sites” once.
• Leave it…
• And make money from them over and over again
• Even while you sleep, you can make money from affiliate marketing.

#4 – Private Advertising

Is a way where you sell advertisement on your website directly. Private Advertising is a Great Way To Make Money. Unlike contextual advertising or affiliate marketing, you get 100% of the whole profit. Private Advertising comes in many forms but the most common are Banner ads and a text link ads.

Here’s How it Works:

1. You either wait for potential advertisers to contact you or contact them directly asking them to advertise on your site.
2. Make Money Depending on how much you charge for the ad spot on your site.

Private advertising at its best is a very effective way to make money but only if you have good amount of traffic coming to your website. So if your website is new and gets little visitors, advertisers would not likely buy from your site.

This is why a Good Rule Of The Thumb When Doing Private Advertising is to only offer it when you are already receiving at least 1,000 visitors a day on your site.

#5 – Creating or Selling Your Own ‘digital’ Products

You Can Make Money by creating your own products and selling them online.

This Could be Any ‘Digital’ products that you can think of.

1. Ebook
2. Software
3. Video

Why Digital Products?

1. No need for shipping
2. Easier to sell online
3. Easier to make

Creating and Selling my own digital product is something that I haven’t done before. But I am planning to. simply because:

• I believe it is a great way to make money
• Remember affiliate marketing?
• With your own product, you get the chance to have people promote and sell it for you for free!
• That’s one of the Positive side of having your own product.

#6 – Subscription Based Products

This one is similar to creating your own product. The only difference is, you charge your customers on a recurring basis. In my opinion, The ‘Subscription based’ method is the best way to make money because with it, you get continuous flow of income unlike the other methods I mentioned where you only earn money from the customer once.

To give you a good idea about subscription based products (in case you want to start one of your own), Here Are Some Good Examples of websites that implements the subscription based method:

• Hostgator (web hosting company)
• AVG (anti virus software)
• Lynda.com (membership site)
• Aweber (email Marketing Software)

I recommend you visit these sites and see how they are implementing the subscription baed method on their site.

The Subscription Based Method Can Also Be Applied to:

• Affiliate Marketing

- Where instead of promoting a ‘one time’ purchase product ,You can pick/promote ‘subscription based’ products to promote instead.
Hence, give you recurring commisions

• And Your Private Advertisement sales

Where instead of charging a 1 time purchase of the ad spot on your site, you can make it a subscription-based payment instead in a way, that advertisers need to pay you on a per month basis.

(Bonus Way) = Getting Donations

I do not really see this as a “best way” to make money but it is worth mentioning since I see some sites that have good success with this.

You can earn extra revenue from your site by asking for donations.

How it Works:

• You simply put a donate button on your site (preferably from Paypal)
• You make money each time someone donates
• If you like, you can also place ‘Amazon wish list widget’ on your site.
• You might never know, someone could actually give you donations
• But again, I do not see getting donations as a way to make money. I just think this could be a

The Core Best Ways To Make Money Online Still Comes Down To

1. Contextual Advertising
2. YouTube Partnership program
3. Private advertising Sales
4. Affiliate Marketing
5. By Creating Your Own Products.

If you’re into  internet marketing, you had probably heard of all these recent talks about google over optimization penalties, de-indexing link networks, search engines focusing more on social signals and all those hooplas. This stuff gets serious especially if you’re an SEO guy.

first, I would like to give my thoughts about Over optimization.

There’s certainly no such thing as “over optimization” in fact, if you listen to the recent interview with matt cutts, (where all this talk has began) he just couldn’t think of a word to describe it, so he just went with “over optimization”.

Optimization certainly is not a bad thing and Search Engines has nothing against it. in fact, they highly encourage it. Your main keywords inside the <title>, <h1> tags are some examples of good search engine optimization.

HOWEVER, What search engines do not like is spamming. And this is what you should totally avoid.

There are many ways to spam search engines. it could be an on-site and off-site factor.

on-site for example, you can create a crappy page with a keyword density of 60% or plaster your title tags with repeating keywords: certainly, this is a big SEO no no.

off-site for example, you probably joined a link network and started building backlinks using them. (which is probably working for you right now but it might not in the long run.)

Why?

Search engines are becoming super smarter now than ever before. (especially Google)

Check your Google analytics and webmaster tools account. if you know how to use it, then you probably seen this by now.

Google Has “almost” all activity data that’s happening inside our site

if you check, you’ll see

1. they are tracking Social media activities happening inside our website now
2. they know if we got a new content published
3. they know if there’s a new back link to our website
4. They even have this new feature that “verifies” content authorship on a website
5. it’s also rumored that, google’s been crawling links that are sent through email
6. on the interview, Matt even talked about website design and publication dates. so, if your content and website design looks like it is from the 1980′s, there’s a chance that Search engines won’t put too much attention to it. (if you are running a blog, I suggest you update some of your top posts publish them as a new article. this way, the content would look fresh to search engines)

back to the topic…

Obviously, it’s possible for them to use all these data to add up in their Algorithm in determining on how to rank your website.

if you are a member of link networks, there’s a big chance that you’ll just be wasting your money.

Overtime, Google will eventually find out about these network and de-index it. which basically means, you’ll be losing all the backlinks you build and lose your rankings.

A good example of a network that google shut down is build my rank.

BuildmyRank.com is a popular blog network used by many Search engine marketers. Until the recent Google update ran them out of business completely. you can read their official announcement below:

because of all these changes, I can say that guest posting, original article submissions and waiting for the links to come naturally are still the best way to build backlinks to your site.

it’s a daunting task and certainly takes time, but you have to remember that, whatever you’re doing to improve, no matter how small, would still be effective in the long run.

if you do at least 1 guest posting a week for example, that would be 4 backlinks a month or 40 links a year – From real established / related websites – without paying a monthly fee.

“Search Engines Follow People”

if you are able to build an awesome site that people loves, search engine will naturally follow it. which is what exactly you should do to avoid penalties.

1. make an awesome website that people love
2. avoid spamming
3. take advantage of social media

when you are able to get the proper mind set / website with these qualities, There is no doubt that it will dominate the SERPS no matter how many updates Google does.

A valuable brand advocate is someone who is truly devoted to your brand and who has enough power to influence many peers. The following are a few steps you can take to create loyal brand advocates for your company.

Simply Treat All Customers Well

The way you interact with your customers everyday can determine if you can gather brand advocates. Brand advocates do not come with a sign on their foreheads. They will probably start out as a regular customers. Treat every customer well; you never know who has a thousand followers on Twitter.

Start with Employees

The people who interact with your product on a daily basis can be wonderful advocates for your brand. Make your employees happy and encourage them to talk about your brand. You can do this by offering employee discounts and giving free samples when you are introducing new products.

Make Shopping Effortless

Even if women like to take plenty of time to make a decision, they are still in need of time savers. Make sure that your website is user friendly. Your ads should link straight to a page where your shopper can purchase the product they click on. Navigating your site should be effortless.

Consider the unique habits and needs of women when you are marketing to them. The extra effort will more than make up for itself with a higher rate of return.

I have this habit of checking my aweber account occasionally for inactive subscribers.

inactive subscribers are subcribers who opted in your list and don’t even bother opening your messages. and it’s not a bad idea to delete them for these 3 main reasons:

1. they “may” mark your messages as Spam

if a subscriber has been subscribed to your list for too long and does not even bother to open your messages, there’s a big chance that they will forget who you are and mark your message as “spam”

2. they are invaluable to you

as much as I hate to call them junk, that’s really the first thing that comes to my mind. people who don’t read your messages at all proves to be invaluable to you so you might as well delete them from your mailing list.

3. They cost you money

this one is probably the best reason why you should delete them. you probably heard about aweber‘s monthly fee. They are charging an extra $10 if you reach more than 500 subscribers, $30 for more than 2500 and so on..

today, I’ve deleted hundreds of my Aweber subscribers and was very happy while doing it. simply because of those three reasons above. :-)

if you’re also in this situation, I advice you to do the same thing. DELETE ALL THOSE INACTIVE SUBSCRIBERS as well.

How To Delete inactive Aweber subscribers

1. inside your aweber account, go to the “search page” under the “subscribers” tab

2. Click on “select field” drop down menu

and choose “no opens”

3. Click on the 3rd field to the right (the date field) and wait for a small window to popup. This window will allow you to search all the subscribers who haven’t opened a single message from you Since that date, so if you’re looking for subscribers who haven’t opened a message for 30 days, all you’ll have to do is do these steps.

4. Click the search  button, then scroll down to see the list of subscribers who haven’t opened your messages since the date you chose.

5.  To delete these subscribers, check the Erase box in the upper right of the list of subscribers to mark them all to be deleted, then click save (located under the check boxes)  to remove them from your list permanently.

6. If you have multiple pages of subscribers, you can repeat this process to remove them all.

Quantity vs Quality

all in all, it’s not the size of your email list that matters. it’s the QUALITY that counts. if I were you, I would get rid of those inactive subscribers right away. and build a more healthy and active Subscriber base.
